JEFFERSON – The Jefferson School Board on Monday approved the hiring of a new high school choir director and a new school psychologist.
The new conductor will be Cassandra Pacelli of Wauwatosa, who is expected to receive her Masters in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in August.
Pacelli graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2015 with a major in music education – choral accent and a minor in French.
The new choirmaster taught for five years in the North Ozaukee School District, conducting middle and high school choirs.
Previously, she taught for a year in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, overseeing music programs from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
The hiring committee and administration recommended Pacelli as the top candidate to serve in the role of vocal music director for Jefferson High School and music director for the drama department.
Pacelli will replace Tony Mudra, who leaves Jefferson schools after a year to teach in the community where his wife teaches and where his children attend.
Katy Riederer from Oconomowoc is registered for the post of school psychologist.
She will work outside of high school.
Riederer received his BA in Psychology from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2011 and his MA in School Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2013.
She is eight years old as a school psychologist at West Side and Tibbets Elementary and Options Charter School in the Elkhorn School District.
The interview team and administration recommended Riederer as the best candidate for the position, citing her knowledge of special education law, strong communication skills, collaborative approach and ability to connect with stakeholders. most vulnerable students and families.
The school board also responded to a resignation at its Monday meeting.
Bill Becker submitted a resignation letter announcing his intention to quit his position as a cross-category special education teacher at Jefferson High School at the end of the contract year in June.
