Brookdale Church accepted summer-themed donations for Noyes Home for Children on Wednesday.
Water balloons, various bubble bottles and inflatable beach balls are just a few of the things dropped off by the community.
Brookdale Church Children’s Ministry Director Sue Bolander oversaw the donations.
“A variety of kids will be able to play with this stuff,” Bolander said. “Basketball for all ages, then crafts, any kid can do. “
Some of the suggestions they made to the community were for summer clothes, swimwear, sandals, sports balls, sunscreen, aloe vera, beach towels, bug spray, and sunscreen. dressings. They got these things, but many gifts were creative.
“Every time I came to church there was another big surprise,” Bolander said.
This “Beat the Heat” fundraising campaign is part of the church’s local missionary journey for youth.
During the ride, the children also cleaned up the Mount Mora cemetery, prepared packed lunches for Second Harvest’s No Hunger Summer program, and helped with the Pivotal Point thrift store, among other things.
The plan is to drop off all donations at Noyes Home this Friday.
“It will be good because we will have the opportunity to go to Noyes Home and bring the supplies and then they will do a little visit, so the kids can actually see the great things that Noyes Home is doing in our community. “
To donate, visit 203 S. 31st St., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.
